Baum was inspired by the works of the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen, focusing on manipulating the fairy tale tradition with an American feel in the Oz series. In addition to The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (the first in the Oz series), this edition also includes the novels The Scarecrow of Oz and The Tin Woodman of Oz, centred around two of the original novel’s beloved characters.
